Pressemeddelelse: Piffanny køber ByWirth

Piffany Copenhagen is proud to announce the acquisition of the Danish design company byWirth. Both parties share values regarding design and sustainable production, making byWirths impressive back catalogue combined with Piffany’s large scale distribution setup a natural fit. byWirth is known for designing and producing furniture and accessories of the highest quality. With the acquisition of byWirth, Piffany is expanding its range of Scandinavian interior design under its brand EKTA. The purchase is an important part of Piffany’s ambitious growth strategy, which is focused on strengthening and expanding distribution channels throughout the world, including the USA. byWirth was established in 2011 by married couple Signe and Sune Wirth Engelund. The company has since its beginning produced sustainable furniture with natural materials, high durability and simplistic designs following Nordic tradition. byWirths products are currently sold in more than 15 countries, and the company delivered impressive financial results both during and after the coronavirus crisis. The two founders of byWirth will make up Piffany’s creative team and help further develop all brands under Piffany going forward, says Michael Valstorp, who, along with Lauritz Smed, is the co-owner and CEO of Piffany: ‘byWirths portfolio is a natural fit with EKTA: simple, high quality Scandinavian furniture and accessories sourced and produced responsibly. We are experiencing an increasing worldwide demand for Scandinavian design – especially in the USA, a place in which we are currently working to strengthen our distribution. We are happy to acquire two talented and dedicated designers to help us on this journey’. Piffany’s design brands include EKTA, Uyuni, Mr. Wattson and Eledea. An increased focus on foreign markets led Piffany to log its strongest financial results so far in 2021. The company looks forward to continuing its growth upon the acquisition of byWirths product portfolio. Signe Wirth Engelund, co-founder of byWirth, says that the couple is excited to now focus all their attention on the creative process under a company with similar values: ‘Joining Piffany and becoming part of its brands is an amazing opportunity to reach more people with our designs. We share the philosophy that design should be not just beautiful and sustainable, but also functional. This has been dogma in byWirth, and we are excited to continue our work with a larger brand.’ Piffany will work on expanding its interior collections for kitchen, living room, bathroom and hallways. Both parties agree to refrain from disclosing financial details of the acquisition.
